Messages, Choices, Impacts: Supporting learners to become sensitive to design choices

In the video below, I share how I have been using the Messages, Choices, Impacts Thinking Routine with third and fourth grade students at Sacred Heart School where I work as an Instructional Coach. This routine has been helpful in supporting learners to look closely at design choices made by content creators and how those specific design choices help communicate messages. Students have also been able to reflect on the impact of these messages and design choices on themselves and their communities. We even used the routine to do our own making! Students considered what messages they wanted to communicate, reflected on their own design choices, and what impacts they hoped to have.
